Magefesa mechanical dishwashing procedures

MAGEFESA cookware materials may vary depending on the product model. MAGEFESA most common cookware materials are stainless steel, aluminum, anodized aluminum, porcelain enamel, carbon steel, etc. and all of them are made from high quality raw materials.

Although most MAGEFESA types of cookware are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing to preserve the finish. Please, follow next dishwasher guidelines to extend the life of your products.

  • Soaps used in dishwashers contain highly corrosive chemicals, and due to the wide diversity of soaps sold in the market, we cannot guarantee that any of them may damage our cookware.
  • Concentrated detergents that usually get good results in short cycles are highly aggressive.
  • Chlorides or chlorine based products that most concentrated detergents incorporate can damage stainless steel; this damage will be irreversible.
  • The use of detergents including Sodium Hydroxide in their composition will attack the passive layer of aluminum, anodized aluminum and carbon steel cookware, causing discoloration, pitting and corrosion.
  • Chemicals used in dishwashing machines can also damage handles or wooden knobs.
  • Small families generally leave the cookware for a long time into the dishwasher, before washing, until the dishwasher is absolutely full. Do not leave dirty cookware in the dishwasher for long, acids and salts contained in foods spoil materials.
  • Remove the load from your dishwasher when cycle is finished. Leaving metal cutlery exposed to high humidity environments favors oxidation.
  • Galvanic corrosion is an electrochemical process in which one metal corrodes preferentially to another when both metals are in electrical contact, in the presence of an electrolyte. This process may occur in the dishwasher when placing sterling silver and stainless steel tableware in a dishwasher at the same time or even when in contact with dishwasher racks.
  • Check the rinsing system of your dishwasher periodically. Over time, food particles or even limescale can clog the outer holes. If your dishwasher is not properly rinsing, your cookware will degrade.
  • Vibrations and friction that occur during the dishwashing process may eventually damage the original luster of your cookware.
